Words Mistakes

Today we are going to talk about correct pronunciation and spelling of words. For example, do you find yourself saying melk when you actually mean milk? What are some similar mistakes that you have made in the past. Make a short comment (100-200 words) on a similar pronunciation mistake (eggcorn-acorn, melk-milk).

  1. I used to say preying mantis instead of praying mantis. It is this darn Midwest accent that does this to me. When I realized I was saying this (as well as the terrible melk word), I was disgusted with myself. Once I started looking into words deeper and the actual pronunciation of them, I was able to change the way I speak and right about then was when I started using correct grammar and punctuation. Shortly after that, I was able to find out that I wanted to teach English. The feelings evoked from the correct pronunciation of words led me to where I am now. That's really weird to think about.
